Mangaluru: Speaker UT Khader conferred honorary doctorate by Bangalore University

Mangaluru, Nov 28: In a prestigious ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan on Thursday, Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker UT Khader was conferred an honorary doctorate by Bangalore University.

The honorary degree was presented by the University chancellor and Governor of Karnataka, Thawar Chand Gehlot, who felicitated Khader for his contributions to public life and governance. The event witnessed the presence of Bangalore University Vice-Chancellor Dr Jayakar SM, Registrar KT Shanthala, and several other dignitaries.

A graduate in BA and LLB, Khader is the son of late Ullal MLA U T Fareed. His journey into public service began through NSUI, Youth Congress, and Sevadal, marking the start of an active political career rooted in grassroots leadership.

Khader has been elected five consecutive times as the MLA of the Mangaluru Assembly Constituency, reflecting his strong public connect and consistent service. He has held key portfolios in the state cabinet, including health, food and civil supplies, housing, and urban development. He also served as the deputy leader of the Congress legislature party before assuming charge as Speaker in 2023.
