Udupi, Nov 26: Udupi is gearing up to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 28, with the city draped in saffron flags, buntings and cut-outs, and a heavy security apparatus in place across all key locations.

In anticipation of the prime minister’s arrival, saffron flags and decorations have been displayed prominently across the city, while large cut-outs of Modi have been installed at several junctions.

Barricades have been set up throughout Udupi, and vehicle movement will strictly follow the route plan issued by the district administration.

Security has been massively strengthened, with a specialised helipad team conducting checks at the Adi-Udupi helipad, and continuous inspections under way along the route to Sri Krishna Math. Dog squads and bomb disposal units have been deployed at every critical point on the prime minister’s travel corridor.

Police personnel from neighbouring districts have also been assigned to Udupi, and patrol operations have been intensified across the city.

To manage the expected influx of people, more than 20 designated parking locations have been arranged. On November 28, entry into the inner city will be strictly restricted from 6 am to 3 pm, according to the police department. The district administration has also temporarily halted all ongoing repair works inside the city.

Additionally, entry of devotees into Sri Krishna Math will be completely restricted from 8 am to 3 pm on the day of the visit.

The prime minister’s arrival at the famed abode of Lord Krishna has generated widespread excitement among Udupi residents, who are preparing to welcome him with enthusiasm.
