Mangaluru, Nov 25: The Mangaluru police have arrested T Dinesh Shetty alias Dinnu from Mugali village in Belthangady taluk, a fugitive wanted in multiple serious cases, after he evaded the courts for more than a year.

Shetty was sentenced to life imprisonment by a competent court in Mangaluru South police station case No. 144/2009 for allegedly murdering advocate Khassim Naushad on the instructions of underworld figures Ravi Poojary and Kali Yogesh. He served 11 years in prison and was released in December 2019 following an appeal to the High Court.

Since his release, Shetty has been implicated in Kavoor police station case no. 01/2019 (kidnapping), Mangaluru North police station case no. 88/2022 (cheating), and Mangaluru North police station case No. 06/2023 (extortion). Despite the ongoing cases, he had remained absconding for over a year, avoiding court appearances.

On Tuesday, November 25, the fugitive was finally apprehended by the team led by the ACP, North sub-division, ending his long evasion of justice.
