Iran condemns killing of Hezbollah commander in Beirut strike

Daijiworld Media Network - Tehran

Tehran, Nov 24: Iran on Sunday sharply criticised Israel after Hezbollah’s senior military commander Haytham Ali Tabatabai was killed in an airstrike on the southern suburbs of Beirut, plunging the region into renewed tension.

In a strongly worded statement, the Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned what it described as the “cowardly assassination of the great commander of the Lebanese Islamic Resistance, the martyr Haytham Ali Tabatabai”.

The ministry said the targeted killing was not only an act of aggression but also “a flagrant violation of the November 2024 ceasefire and a brutal breach of Lebanon’s national sovereignty.”

The strike, which took place a day earlier in the Hezbollah stronghold of Beirut’s southern districts, has triggered a wave of political outrage, further escalating an already volatile regional landscape.
