Tulu film ‘Jai’ records strong opening of over Rs 3 crore in five days

Mangaluru, Nov 23: Jai, directed by and starring Rock Star Roopesh Shetty, has registered an impressive performance in both Tulu and Kannada, emerging as one of the highest-screened regional films. The movie created a record by securing 1,020 shows on its opening day. Within just five days, the film has collected Rs 3.20 crore. The dubbing rights, audio rights and premiere shows have also generated significant revenue.

The film has received an overwhelming response from audiences. Families as well as schoolchildren have appreciated the movie, leading to a strong positive word-of-mouth. “We are very happy with the audience's response. We have followed the path laid by our seniors. Many producers and directors who have given successful films in the Tulu industry have guided us, and we have made this film with their experience. Jai is my dream project. We worked with utmost dedication and devotion, and the entire team has put in immense hard work. We are glad to see the results,” said Roopesh Shetty.

Jai is a big-budget Tulu film featuring renowned artistes from the coastal region. After the success of Girgit and Circus, Roopesh Shetty has directed this ambitious project. Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty also plays a role in the film, adding to its impact.

Produced under the banners of RS Cinemas, Shoolin Films and Mugrodi Production, the film’s story and dialogues are by Prasanna Shetty Bailur, while the screenplay is by Roopesh Shetty and Venu Hasralli. Cinematography is by Vinuth K, music by Loy Valentine Saldana and editing by Rahul Vasishta. Choreography and executive production are handled by Naveen Shetty Aryans.

The cast includes Suniel Shetty, Dr Devadas Kapikad, Raj Deepak Shetty, Naveen D Padil, Aravind Bolar, Bhojaraj Vamanjoor, Prasanna Shetty Bailur, Sandeep Shetty Manibettu, Umesh Mijar, Manoj Chetan D’Souza and others. Advithi Shetty plays the female lead.
