Karkala, Nov 22: A truck transporting apples from Shivamogga to Mangaluru was completely gutted in a fire during the early hours of Saturday, causing heavy losses.
The incident occurred at around 2:30 am on Saturday near the Mal S K Border stretch of the National Highway.
Upon receiving information, the Karkala fire and emergency services rushed to the spot and carried out firefighting operations. However, by the time they arrived, the truck had already been engulfed in flames and was reduced to ashes. The fire resulted in the loss of the truck and other materials worth several lacs of rupees.
The firefighting operation was led by assistant fire station officer Chandrashekar, along with staff members Acchata Karkera, Hariprasad Shettigar, Mohammad Muzabil, Dinesh, and Nityananda.
