Kolkata, Nov 6: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday stated that she will not fill out her enumeration form for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) until all other residents of the state have done so. The forms, required by the Election Commission of India (ECI), were submitted at her Kalighat residence-cum-office by the concerned Booth-Level Officer (BLO).
Mamata clarified on social media that while the BLO visited her residence to record voter details and provide the forms, she has not filled in her form. “I have not filled up any form myself, and until every person in West Bengal fills up their forms, I will not fill mine either,” she wrote.

The chief minister also denied media reports claiming she personally received the form from the BLO, calling such reports “false, misleading, and purposeful propaganda.”
The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has consistently opposed the SIR, arguing that the revision exercise is a BJP-led attempt to introduce the NRC in West Bengal. TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee had earlier warned of taking rallies from Bengal to Delhi if even one legitimate voter’s name was removed from the rolls.
The BJP, in contrast, has accused the TMC of resisting the SIR out of fear that names of illegal immigrants, including Bangladeshis and Rohingyas, might be deleted from the voter list.
The first stage of the three-stage SIR began in West Bengal on Tuesday, with BLOs visiting homes to distribute and collect forms. The process is expected to continue through March next year.
