Kannada Sangha Santacruz celebrates 80th Independence Day

Mumbai, Aug 15: The Kannada Sangha Santacruz celebrated the 80th Independence Day with patriotic fervour, highlighting the need for the younger generation to contribute towards building a strong and self-reliant India.

“We proudly celebrate the 80th Independence Day today, remembering the struggles and sacrifices of our elders. Our country has progressed in education, science, technology, agriculture, sports, space and digital technology, successfully attracting global attention. Along with following the laws of the country, it is also our duty to maintain cleanliness. Every young person in the country must resolve to work for the progress of the nation,” said Sujatha R Shetty of Kannada Sangha Santacruz.

She said the younger generation has a crucial role to play in building a strong and self-reliant India while respecting the hard-won freedom secured through the sacrifices of their ancestors.

“Let us all aspire to take the country to the position of Vishwaguru in the fields of technology and knowledge by following the path of truth, peace and communal harmony,” she said.

In the presence of office-bearers, members, neighbouring residents and children, Sujatha R Shetty hoisted the national flag. Those present saluted the national flag and expressed their patriotism by singing the national anthem. She later delivered the presidential address.

The programme commenced with the flag hoisting and singing of the national anthem. Honorary Joint Secretary Chandrahass J Kotian welcomed the gathering and compered the programme, while Vanitha Y Nonda proposed the vote of thanks.

Vice-president Bhajanga R Shetty, honorary treasurer Sudhakar Uchchil, honorary joint treasurer Bannanje Ravindra Avin, cultural department chairperson Vanitha Y Nonda, Education committee chairperson Vijayakumar K Kotyan, secretary Shakila P Shetty, Shalini G Shetty, executive committee members Sumithra G Devadiga, Lingappa B Ameen, Girish Shetty and Rekha R Shetty, along with residents of the locality, children and others, were present.
