Bhopal, Nov 4: In two shocking back-to-back incidents exposing grave misconduct by uniformed personnel, a drunk ITBP jawan in Bhopal and three inebriated policemen in Indore allegedly ran over pedestrians on Monday night, leaving several people injured and triggering public anger.
The first incident was reported around 8 p.m. near platform number 6 of Bhopal Railway Station. According to Mangalwara police, an Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) jawan, identified as Deepak alias Rajendra Singh, allegedly in an inebriated state, lost control of his private car and mowed down four pedestrians and roadside vendors.

Eyewitnesses said the accused, who had come from the ITBP campus in Kokta Transport Nagar to pick up a guest, was driving recklessly. After the mishap, he allegedly tried to flee the spot, but was chased and caught by locals who also damaged his car, which carried a “POLICE” sticker.
Inspector Ajay Kumar Soni confirmed that the accused was under the influence of alcohol. “All four victims sustained leg injuries, and one has suffered a fracture. The accused has been detained and sent for a medical examination. Further legal action is being taken,” he stated. The injured were rushed to Hamidia Hospital for treatment.
Barely two hours later, around 10:30 p.m., residents of Indore’s Raoji Bazaar area witnessed a similar act of negligence, this time involving three uniformed policemen.
Locals alleged that three drunken policemen in a white car first nearly hit two women who had stepped out to buy medicines. When the women raised an alarm, the men sped away, hitting several bystanders in their attempt to escape.
The vehicle was soon chased down and surrounded by residents, who were shocked to find that the occupants were police personnel themselves — identified as Constable Anil (Sanyogitaganj Police Station), Head Constable Sudarshan Herve (Bhanwarkuan), and Constable Vedant (Azad Nagar). However, the trio managed to flee before other police teams could arrive.
Both incidents have sparked outrage among citizens, with questions being raised about the conduct and accountability of law enforcement officials entrusted with maintaining public safety.
