Ravi Teja’s ‘Mass Jathara’ opens to weak response at box office

Hyderabad, Nov 1: Telugu superstar Ravi Teja’s much-anticipated 75th film Mass Jathara, directed by Bhanu Bogavarapu, opened to a dull response at the box office, collecting only Rs 0.08 crore (India net) on its first day, according to data from Sacnilk.com.

Produced by Fortune Four Cinemas, Srikara Studios, and Sithara Entertainments, the film was made on an estimated budget of Rs 30 crore. However, the opening numbers have fallen far below expectations, especially when compared to the actor’s previous release Mr Bachchan, which collected Rs 5.3 crore on its opening day last year.

Starring Sreeleela alongside Ravi Teja, the film was promoted as a high-voltage mass entertainer marking a milestone in the actor’s career. But the initial audience response has been largely disappointing.

Viewers on social media described the film as “a regular commercial flick” and “a one-time watch.” Some complained about the film’s lack of depth and repetitive formula, calling it a “mix of several mass films without a strong story.” Others termed it “average” and said that while Ravi Teja’s energy was commendable, the film failed to match the expectations of a 75th milestone project.

Despite its grand promotions and star power, Mass Jathara has struggled to connect with audiences. Trade analysts now await the weekend collections to see if positive word of mouth can help the film recover from its slow start.
