Puttur, Oct 29: Police have obtained a crucial lead in connection with the theft of Rs 5 lac from an arecanut shop in Uppinangady, and the investigation is progressing intensively.

The theft occurred at a shop owned by businessman Vasanth Gowda, who deals in forest produce and arecanut trade, located in a commercial complex near Gandhi Park. Taking the case seriously, police officials reviewed CCTV footage from the surrounding areas and reportedly found an important clue.

A suspicious old motorcycle captured in the CCTV footage has now become the focal point of the investigation. Police sources revealed that the bike seen in this case resembles the one involved in a theft reported near Beltangady last month. Authorities suspect that the same group could be behind both incidents.

Based on this lead, the police have intensified their probe and are working to identify and trace the culprits.
