Highway projects to display contractor, officer details for transparency: Nitin Gadkari

Daijiworld Media Network – New Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 29: Union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari announced that commuters will soon be able to access detailed information about highway projects, including the names, addresses, and mobile numbers of contractors and officers responsible for each stretch.

Speaking at a conference organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in the national capital, Gadkari said the move aims to ensure greater accountability and transparency in highway development across the country. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will install project information boards with QR codes, allowing travellers to easily obtain project details and emergency contact information.

Gadkari said the government is conducting performance audits of highway projects and will take strict action against those found negligent. “By scanning the code, people will know who is responsible if there is any inconvenience,” he said.

When a child cries the mother will put a chocolate in the child's mouth and the keep quiet. Current generation does not want chocolate s in place of roads. Making roads is not rocket science. We require good roads made to specifications. Safe and durable. Transparency QRCode display is beating around the bush. Let there be kick backs, let contractors make money let our elected people make money. Let the roads made be good to specifications. Let the road s be made on time To me it is the lives of our near and dear ones. Lives that are needlessly lost on the roads every day. We being children of a smaller god accept this.

Good move! Since it's taxpayer money, it's essential to mention the tender price for the particular road. This ensures transparency, and hopefully, all of here will agree on this.

Bobato Charli Mangalore,Charli mama ,Whatever the technic he uses is or old technic ,we want a clear roads and not leaving back half finished and runaway.I suggest whoever contractor is ,let him keep a fix amount back untouched till he finishes the road as per it should be .If road is leftback half finished ,govt should utilize this amount to clear it .One should be in charge if this.Sides should be equal and not left back with stones .Rain water drain must be there.Govt wants it with less money and not bothered about state of roads. So contractors too want to save money and leave back half finished. It should have an end.
