Mangaluru, Oct 28: Konkani Sanskrutik Sangh, Mumbai successfully staged the much-acclaimed Konkani social drama ‘Devache Ghadit Konn Modit..?’ at Don Bosco Hall, Mangaluru, on October 26, drawing a packed audience and an overwhelming response from Konkani drama enthusiasts.
The event witnessed the presence of several distinguished personalities including Anil Lobo Fermai, chairman, MCC Bank Ltd; Praveen Tauro, marketing manager, Daijiworld media; Stany Bela, production director, Daijiworld media; Raymond D’Cunha, writer and president, Konkani Bhasha Mandal Karnataka; Roshan D’Souza Angelore, music director; Dolla Mangaluru, renowned comedian; Gration D’Souza Bejai, noted composer; Jerry Bondel, poet and composer; and Simon Pais Bajal, choir master and musician.
































They were joined by playwright Joseph D’Souza Mumbai, director Hilary D’Silva, and drama convenors Judith D’Souza Angelore and Floyd D’Mello Cascia.
Preserving Konkani through theatre
Chief guest Anil Lobo Fermai lauded the Mumbai-based drama team for their commitment to preserving the Konkani language through theatre. “In a city like Mumbai where English dominates, it’s heartening to see a group so passionately promoting Konkani. Despite living in different parts of the city, their unity and dedication to the art form are truly admirable,” he said, wishing the team continued success in reaching Konkani speaking audiences everywhere.
A talented ensemble
The drama featured outstanding performances by George Sequeira, Henry D’Souza, Jossy Gonsalves, Jenitha D’Souza, Juliana D’Souza, Julie Vaz, Melvin D’Souza, and Elias Pais, each delivering a memorable portrayal that captivated the audience.
The title song was penned by Hilary D’Silva (Mira Road), with the remaining songs composed by Jerry Bondel. Roshan D’Souza Angelore handled music direction for the songs, while Simon Pais Bajal arranged the background score.
Guest singers Leo D’Souza Ranipura, Ashel Pinto, Austin D’Souza, and Veera Rodrigues added melodic charm to the evening with their soulful interludes.
Behind the scenes
The impressive stage decor was designed by William Pinto Padhrengi and his team. Lobo Pro Sounds & Lights managed sound and lighting with finesse, while Giriyappa Iddya skillfully handled makeup for the entire cast.
Playwright Joseph D’Souza Mumbai expressed heartfelt gratitude to all supporters, well-wishers, and sponsors for their encouragement. The programme was compered with flair and energy by Floyd D’Mello Cascia, whose unique style kept the audience engaged.
