Puttur, Oct 26: A case has been registered against RSS representative Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat for allegedly making a speech that incited religious hatred, insulted women’s dignity, and posed a threat to public peace during the Deepotsava programme held at Uppalige on October 20.

According to the complaint filed by Ishwari Padmunja, a resident of Puttur taluk, Bhat made derogatory remarks against Hindu and Muslim communities, referring to their population numbers in a manner that could provoke religious enmity.

The speech was reportedly broadcast on the ‘Kahale News’ YouTube channel, the complaint stated.

Based on this complaint, the Puttur Rural police station registered a case on October 25, under Crime No. 118/2025, invoking sections 79, 196, 299, 302, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against Prabhakar Bhat and the event organisers.

The police have begun an investigation into the matter.
