“I am not done yet”: Kamala Harris hints at another presidential run, slams Trump as a ‘Tyrant’

Washington, Oct 26: Nearly a year after her defeat to Donald Trump in the 2024 US Presidential Election, former Vice President Kamala Harris has hinted that her political journey is far from over. In a candid conversation with BBC, Harris said she “possibly” still sees herself as a future president of the United States.

“I am not done,” Harris declared, expressing her continued commitment to public service. “I have lived my entire career as a life of service, and it’s in my bones,” she added. The 60-year-old leader also expressed optimism that her grandnieces would “for sure” witness a female president in their lifetime.

Her remarks come at a time when the Democratic Party is scouting for a strong contender for the 2028 presidential election — one in which Donald Trump, now serving his second non-consecutive term as the 47th US President, will be ineligible to contest.

Despite her stature as a former vice president, Harris’s popularity within her party appears to have waned. BBC reports suggest that she ranks lower than even Hollywood star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in early polls gauging potential Democratic nominees for 2028.

However, Harris brushed aside poll figures, saying, “If I listened to polls, I would not have run for my first office, or my second office, and I certainly wouldn’t be sitting here.”

In the same interview, Harris did not hold back her criticism of President Trump, accusing him of “weaponising” the Department of Justice to silence critics. “You look at what has happened in terms of how he has weaponised, for example, federal agencies going after political satirists. His skin is so thin he couldn’t endure criticism from a joke and attempted to shut down an entire media organisation in the process,” she said, calling Trump a “tyrant.”

Responding to her remarks, White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson issued a sharp retort. “When Kamala Harris lost the election in a landslide, she should’ve taken the hint — the American people don’t care about her absurd lies,” Jackson said in a statement.

As the 2028 election approaches, Harris’s renewed ambition has once again put her in the political spotlight, hinting that her chapter in American politics may be far from closed.
