Gaza, Oct 22: Gaza is facing a health “catastrophe” that could persist for “generations to come,” warned World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
Speaking to BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, Dr. Tedros stressed that a significant increase in humanitarian and medical aid is urgently needed to meet the complex and mounting needs of Gaza’s population.

While Israel has permitted more aid and medical supplies into the territory following the US-brokered ceasefire with Hamas, Dr. Tedros said the current levels remain far below what is required to restore the region’s shattered healthcare system.
His remarks come as Washington continues efforts to stabilize the fragile ceasefire after renewed violence erupted over the weekend.
