Man dies of electric shock while fixing decorative lights in Kasargod

Kasargod, Oct 21: A man died after suffering an electric shock at Putthige near Seethangoli on Monday night. The deceased has been identified as Rajesh Acharya (37), a resident of Acharyimule, Putthige.

According to reports, Rajesh was installing decorative lights in the courtyard of his house for Diwali celebrations when he accidentally came in contact with electricity. Family members immediately rushed him to the hospital, but he could not be saved.

Rajesh was working as a carpenter by profession. His body has been kept at the mortuary of Kasargod General Hospital, and it will be handed over to relatives after the post-mortem examination.

Kumble police have registered a case in this regard.

    Those who are not fully qualified about electrical jobs should not venture into unwanted risks. In my personal life in Kuwait, I was saved from being electrocuted due to my wrong move. That was first and last. Even if required change the bulb first I ensure that switch off.

    Most don't slippers or chappals when handling electrical gadgets especially inside houses . This is very risky and i order all colleagues and my kids, to wear safety shoes or sandals wherever they handle electrical devices - big or small.

    during festive mood every one will be excited..but safety precautions should be always given first preferance...sad to know that the family lost its member on an auspicious day...RIP
