Mangaluru: Mount Carmel students exhibit victorious spirit in sports

Mangaluru, Oct 19: The students of Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru brought laurels to the school by showcasing remarkable talent in a series of recently held sports events:

In the AICS Interschool Girls’ Football Tournament organised by Manipal School, and held on October 14 at Arena Sports Ground, Attavar, the under-14 Girls’ team of MCCS emerged as the winners. Rihanna Lobo of grade V C was awarded the best striker award and Tisha Balipa of grade VII D adjudged the best goalkeeper.

In the Swim Gala 2025 – state-level medalist and non-medalist swimming championship, organised by Mangala Swimming Club and conducted at City Corporation Swimming Pool, Mangaluru, on October 12, the young swimmers of the school made waves with their stellar performances - Alita D'Souza of grade V D claimed 1st place in 50m butterfly, 50m backstroke, 50m Freestyle, and 4x50m relay medley and freestyle, earning her the title of individual champion.

Nishka Sonara Fernandes of Grade V E secured 1st place in 4x50m freestyle relay, 1st place in 4X50m medley relay, 2nd place in 50m butterfly and 3rd place in 50m backstroke.

Shayna Princita Rego of grade IV A bagged 2nd place in 25m breaststroke, 3rd place in 50m feestyle and 3rd place in 4x50m kickboard relay.

Shivanshi Santhosh Suvarna of grade IV B won the 2nd place in 50m kickboard and 1st place in 4x50m kickboard relay.

Ayush Prashanth of grade III E won the 3rd place in 50 mtr kickboard and 4x50 mtr relay. 

Reema A . of grade VIII B secured 1st place in 50m freestyle, 1st place in 50m butterfly, 2nd place in 50m backstroke and 1st place in 4x50m freestyle relay and 4x50m medley relay.

In the Zonal Indoor Games organised by Rotary Club Hill Side, which was held on October 12, Pavani Anil Kumar of grade IX D secured 1st place in Shuttle Badminton (Doubles) in the U-14 category.

In the table tennis tournament organised by Vidyadayinee Sports Academy in association with Padukone Table Tennis Centre for Excellence held on October 11, Rhea Hurtis of grade VI E bagged the 1st place in U-13 girls’ category and 1st place in the U-15 category; Suzanne Carol Dalmeida of grade V D won the 2nd place in the U-11 girls category and Angela Sarah Dalmeida of grade VII D won the 3rd place in the U-15 category.

The school takes immense pride in these outstanding achievements which reflect the hard work, dedication, and true sportsmanship. The management, principal and staff wholeheartedly congratulate these young achievers and encourage them to continue striving for excellence and victory in their future events.
