Mumbai, Oct 16: A late-night act of bravery at Ram Mandir railway station has captured hearts across social media after a man helped deliver a baby on the platform, saving both the mother and newborn. The incident occurred around 1 am on Tuesday when a woman travelling on a local train went into labour, prompting the bystander to act swiftly. His heroics have drawn comparisons to Rancho, Aamir Khan’s character in 3 Idiots, who famously assisted in a delivery scene.

Eyewitness Manjeet Dhillon shared the heartwarming episode on Instagram, detailing how the man noticed the woman in severe pain and immediately pulled the train’s emergency chain to stop it. “This man is truly brave — words aren’t enough to describe him. The baby was already halfway out — half inside and half outside. It truly felt like God had sent him there for a reason,” Dhillon wrote.

In a video clip, the man can be heard saying, “Pehli baar kiya hai jeevan mein maine yeh. Itna darr lag raha tha na par video call pe madam ne help kiya” (“It’s the first time I’ve ever done something like this. I was very scared, but a madam helped me over a video call”). A female doctor guided him through the delivery step by step via video call after multiple attempts to reach emergency services faced delays.

Dhillon’s post also highlighted a shocking detail: the woman’s family had earlier approached a nearby hospital for help but were turned away, forcing them to return to the train. Following the successful delivery, the mother and newborn were safely transported to a hospital with the assistance of passengers and railway staff.

The incident has gone viral online, with netizens praising the man’s courage and quick thinking, calling him a “real-life hero.”
