Abu Dhabi, Oct 16: A new, fully air-conditioned stadium for Al Jazira Club is set to transform the city’s sporting and community landscape. The stadium, located in Zayed City, will serve not just as a football venue but as a year-round community hub, hosting sporting and non-sporting events alike.
The project received personal attention from UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who reviewed the design and master plan on October 7, 2025. Construction, supervised by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is scheduled to begin in 2026, with completion expected by 2029.

Designed with a 24,000-seat base capacity, expandable to 30,000, the stadium will feature fully air-conditioned seating and a retractable pitch, allowing flexibility for multiple sports and events. Spectator amenities will include premium zones, restaurants, and lounges, ensuring the stadium functions as a community lifestyle hub beyond match days.
Zayed City, the location of the new stadium, is being developed as a major urban centre. Alongside the stadium, Al Jazira Club and MAIR Group plan to develop an 80,000 sq. metre commercial and community complex, integrating entertainment, retail, personal services, and healthcare facilities around the venue.
The new stadium will replace the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium, home of Al Jazira Club since 1980. It will accommodate multiple sports including football, volleyball, handball, and basketball, aligning with the UAE’s goals to promote sports, innovation, and active community engagement.
