Gurugram, Sep 29: Food delivery major Zomato on Monday introduced a new feature called Healthy Mode, which rates dishes for their nutritional value to help customers make healthier choices. The service has debuted in Gurugram and will be rolled out to other cities in the coming weeks.

Announcing the move on X, CEO Deepinder Goyal admitted that while Zomato had simplified ordering food, it had “not done enough to guide people towards meals that are genuinely good for health.” He said the company’s mission of better food for more people must place greater emphasis on nutrition.

Under Healthy Mode, every dish receives a score—from Low to Super—based on protein, complex carbohydrates, fibre and micronutrient content. The scoring is powered by artificial intelligence and restaurant data, while the app offers a simple explanation of why each item qualifies as healthy.

Goyal described the feature as setting “a high bar,” noting that even professional athletes could rely on it when choosing food. He called the launch a personal milestone, sharing that he had long felt uneasy that Zomato made indulgent eating easy but did not equally promote healthier options.

Urging users to try the service and share feedback, Goyal said the feature will evolve further as it expands nationwide.
