Netanyahu rejects Palestinian state recognition, slams UK, Canada, Australia

Daijiworld Media Network - Jerusalem

Jerusalem, Sep 22: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday issued a sharp warning to the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia, following their formal recognition of a Palestinian state. Netanyahu termed the move as “rewarding terror with an enormous prize” and asserted that “there will be no Palestinian state to the west of the Jordan River.”

Addressing the international community, Netanyahu said Israel had successfully resisted pressures—both domestic and foreign—to establish a Palestinian state. He highlighted that Jewish settlements in Judea and Samaria had doubled under his government and pledged to continue on this path with “determination and astute statesmanship.”

The announcement by the UK, Canada, and Australia comes amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza, where Israel faces mounting global pressure over its military operations. The leaders of the three countries stated that recognising Palestine is aimed at promoting peace and advancing a two-state solution in the region.

Shortly after, Portugal also joined the group of nations officially recognising Palestinian statehood, reflecting growing international momentum on the issue.
