Millions face severe weather threat over Labor Day weekend

Daijiworld Media Network - Washington

Washington, Sep 6: Nearly 10 million people across the United States are facing the threat of severe weather over the Labor Day weekend, with torrential rain, powerful winds, large hail and possible tornadoes expected in several areas.

The severe weather threat comes as millions of Americans travel for the holiday weekend, raising concerns over disruptions to road and air travel. Forecasts indicate that parts of the Midwest, Northeast and Mid-Atlantic could experience thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds and hail.

The storms could also bring heavy downpours, increasing the risk of flash flooding in vulnerable areas. Forecasters have urged people planning outdoor activities or traveling through affected regions to monitor local weather alerts and be prepared for rapidly changing conditions.

The weather threat coincides with one of the busiest travel periods of the year. Around 17 million passengers are expected to travel by air over the Labor Day weekend, with Friday and Monday projected to be the busiest days.

Authorities have advised travelers to check forecasts before setting out and remain alert to warnings as severe storms could affect holiday plans across parts of the country.
