Gaza, Sep 20: More than 450,000 Palestinians have fled Gaza City since the start of Israel’s military offensive aimed at seizing the territory’s largest urban centre, Gaza’s civil defence agency reported Friday.
Mohamed al-Mughayir, an official with the Hamas-run rescue force, said, “The number of citizens displaced from Gaza to the south has reached 450,000 people since the start of the military operation on Gaza City in August.”

The Israeli military, which has urged residents to evacuate as it intensifies its ground assault, estimated the number of people who have left the city at around 480,000, according to AFP. The mass displacement highlights the growing humanitarian crisis in the region.
