Tel Aviv, Sep 18: In a significant move to boost the tourism sector, Israel’s Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with the Planning Directorate, has rolled out a new tourism master plan for the southern region of the country.
The comprehensive plan covers a wide spectrum of tourism-related development, including hotels, recreational facilities, heritage attractions, and local accommodations, while also emphasising leisure and entertainment hubs. Authorities said the plan introduces uniform guidelines to streamline approvals for tourism projects, thereby cutting down excessive regulations and reducing the need for repeated amendments in the future.
According to officials, the blueprint seeks to strike a balance between expanding tourism access to open spaces and protecting the ecological continuity of the region. It also mandates planning bodies to assess factors such as environmental sensitivity, proximity to existing infrastructure, and sustainability before clearing new projects.
Interestingly, the initiative places special focus on small-scale community-driven tourism ventures, aimed at empowering local residents and encouraging grassroots participation.
Authorities expressed confidence that the updated framework would make southern Israel more attractive to both domestic and international visitors, while ensuring that development does not compromise the unique natural landscapes of the area.
