Analysis: 'Porn Clip' Notorious Trio's Sleaze Acts - Setback for DVS, Yeddy

Analysis: 'Porn Clip' Notorious Trio's Sleaze Acts - Setback for DVS, Yeddy

Gabriel Vaz
Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore

Bangalore, Feb 8: The 'voluntary' resignations or 'sacking' of the trio of Cabinet ministers - Laxman Savadi, C C Patil and Krishna Palemar – is not just a shameful embarrassment to the ruling BJP not just in Karnataka but even at the national level as they were caught red-handed watching porn clips on mobile phone inside the Karnataka legislative assembly, when it was discussing the plight of farmers due to drought conditions.

But, more importantly, the sleazy and brazen act of the three saffron stalwarts of watching ''blue” film clips on mobile phone has turned out to be a big setback to Karnataka’s ever-smiling Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, who was chosen to replace B S Yeddyurappa over the Lokayukta report on illegal mining and other charges of corruption, because of his clean image.

Though the trio of Laxman Savadi-C C Patil-Krishna Palemar, who sought to brush off the criticism for watching porn clips on mobile phone inside the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday despite being ''caught” in the act, claimed that they had ''voluntarily” resigned to avoid embarrassment to the ruling party and the government in the State and at the national level, which was supported by Gowda, it is an open secret that the BJP high command had ordered that the threesome be served the marching orders.

As is widely known, Savadi had claimed that he had not watched porn clips on the mobile but had viewed the sordid clips of so-called rape of an Iranian woman and her brutal murder when he inquired with the Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister Palemar ''in order to learn about the recent controversial rave party held in the St Mary’s Island, off the temple city of Udupi” and the latter had showed him video clips he had received on his mobile. Savadi had claimed that the mobile handset in question did not belong to him but belonged to Palemar.

Incidentally, the third actor in the sordid affair C C Patil, who sat next to Savadi, was caught for sneaking a look at the video clips on the mobile handset held by Savadi.

Naturally, the trio had to pay the price and was forced to put in their papers in less than 24 hours, after the scandal broke out.

In the meanwhile, the Assembly Speaker K G Bopaiah, who himself was a target of opposition attacks and demands for resignation over the Supreme Court’s scathing remarks on his decision to disqualify the anti-Yeddyurappa MLAs of BJP and Independents, has placed the three ex-ministers under ''temporary suspension” till March 12 – the deadline given to a six-member house committee constituted to submit its probe report – and also served show cause notices by February 13. However, opposition Congress and JD(S) members have demanded that the trio must be disqualified from their membership of the House as mere sacking as ministers was no punishment.

With the State Assembly session, which was abruptly adjourned even before the motion of thanks to the Governor for his address to the joint session of the State Legislature was adopted, due to meet again next month for the budget session and even the parliament due to meet next month for the union general and railway budgets, and the crucial assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and three other states now underway, the BJP national leadership had no other alternative but to take immediate action to contain the damage.

The scandal, however, has come at a most inappropriate time for the former chief minister Yeddyurappa, who is moving heaven and earth for his rehabilitation either as the State’s Chief Minister or at least as the State BJP President. This is more so in view of the fact that two of the three – Laxman Savadi and C C Patil – are staunch supporters of Yeddyurappa belonging to the latter’s Lingayat community and hail from north Karnataka. The third sacked minister Palemar is from coastal Dakshina Kannada and is considered a supporter of the present Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda.

That Yeddyurappa was involved in the confabulations involving Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, his predecessor Yeddyurappa and State BJP President K S Eshwarappa along with other stalwarts including State RSS leaders since last night, is indicative of the fact that none of them could defend the actions or save any of them – even if they wished.

Of course, Yeddyurappa had faced even more serious embarrassment when his blue-eyed boy Hartalu Halappa from Shimoga district, who was used to wrest the former Congress Chief Minister S Bangarappa’s Soraba stronghold and was rewarded with a cabinet berth, was involved in raping the wife of his own friend in their house after getting himself ''invited” for dinner. But Halappa was not immediately asked to quit and tried his best to hold on to his post with indirect backing from the then Chief Minister. Another cabinet minister M P Renukacharya, who was elevated as minister much later by Yeddyurappa, had another sordid love-hate relationship with nurse Jayalakshmi and finally managed to patch-up. In addition, Yeddyurappa had to drop a couple of other ministers as well.

However, D V Sadananda Gowda, who sought to break from the past and enhance the ruling party’s battered image on the strength of his clean record and steady refusal to get involved in any irregularity or scams, has now been forced to suffer the humiliation of sacking three of his cabinet colleagues in one go for no fault of his. The incident involving the three persons, who held the important portfolios of Cooperation, Women and Child Welfare and Ports and Fishers, has certainly come as a big setback for his government and personal image.

Whether the trio manage to prove their innocence, especially after being caught watching the porn clips on the mobile handsets by TV cameras inside the Assembly – which is perhaps the first of its kind in the country’s parliamentary history, in the six-member inquiry ordered by the Speaker and how the ruling party manage to salvage its image, is a big question. Apart from the damage to the image of the ruling party and the chief minister, how the incident affects the future of Yeddyurappa is another factor worth watching.

8.Poor are still poor – Pls Tell me what’s your contribution towards poor??

9.No increase in GDP – As I commented before you cannot expect miracle to happen within short period of BJP rule.

    Rating :
Yeddy : I would give him 6/10. I would have given him more, but the thing is that I don’t like his attitude whereas like his good development works which has given to our state especially our districts. So I have given him 6 rating out of 10.

DVS : Again I would give him 6/10 because it’s only 6 plus months he became CM of our state.

Atlast I would say all the political parties are corrupt, but overall I would say BJP is still better than other political parties.

1.Created communal disharmony - Communal disharmony was more during congress rule. Now it’s better than before.

2.Dished out crores to temples – What’s your problem if BJP govt grants amounts to temple. Even BJP state govt has given good grants to mosques and churches also, but the people like you still say it as drama, vote bank politics etc etc.

3.Helped communal forces free hand in the state (under shameless yeddy, now running without chuddy). – BJP govt did not help any communal forces. Some silly issues are created by congress and JDS because they cannot digest good development works done by BJP state govt and they also know that they will be sitting in opposition permanently. You seem to be more worried about internal communal forces. What about external communal forces??

4.Hoisted flag of Pakistan – Pak flag was hoisted by Ramasene and do you know who are those Ramasene?? They used to support congress once upon a time and not BJP. Our media channels are not ready to disclose the actual facts. Ramasene is a not a part of sangh parivar at all. They are dummy hindu organizations created by congress to spoil the image of sangh parivar.

5.Ate natural resource of Karnataka. – Natural resources were not far better during the congress rule and you cannot expect miracle to happen within short period of BJP rule.

6.Raped friends wife- In this case friend’s wife and rapist both are found culprits. Still not confirmed. If rapist found actual culprit should be punished as per the law.

7.Lastly watched Iranian porn on the floor of the house. FULL STOP. – I agree it’s wrong, but those people have already resigned from the post. If our media channel shoots the videos based on reality we can find more no of such people especially from congress.

@Sandesh Shetty, Bangalore/Kudla , can you please list the development done by BJP other than piggy bagging on previous governments. Only development BJP has done is
    1. Created communal disharmony.
    2. Dished out corores to temples.
    3. Helped communal forces free hand in the state (under shameless yeddy, now running without chuddy).
    4. Hoisted flag of Pakistan
    5. Ate natural resource of Karnataka.
    6. Raped friends wife
    7. Lastly watched Iranian porn on the floor of the house. FULL STOP.
    8. Poor are still poor
    9. No increase in GDP
Lastly, 0/10 for BJP under Yeddy.
    3/10 for DVS
Now please don’t tell me 60 years congress didn’t do anything. Even congis and JDS are BJP’s twins.

Harsh Raj, do you mean to say that our elected representatives are allowed to do whatever they want and exploit the people who have instilled their faith in them and elected these unruly politicians to represent their causes and grievances in the Government.
Irrespective of the party, it is the right of the people to know what their elected representatives are doing at the assembly. It is a different topic for discussion that these unruly politicians - all of them from all parties- are not bothered about you and me and the common man. They are only bothered on making money, sending their children abroad for higher education, roaming in swanky cars and now doing porn- remember all this - at the cost of yours and my and the tax payers money.
Finally the state has got a CM who is committed to improve the affairs of his party as well as the state and it is a good move by him to keep watch on what his team is up to so that he can get all these unwanted elements out of the ministerial positions and get someone in who wants to work for the benefit of the people of the state. DVS has done the right thing....

This is a conspiracy by Sonia Gnahi and Rahul Gandhi to pull down BJP Govt in Karnataka. First they send a mms/video clip to Palemar and get TV camera man to record it. BJP ministers are innocent victims of Congress "Shadyantra" Otherwise how can such gentlemen like these ministers are trapped. There might be a hand of CIA in this. Advani should use his connection to investigate CIA hand or Sonia hand. There is definitely some conspiracy behind this. CT Ravi should be knowing.Dr K Prabhakar Bhat should also see to it that any muslim hand or minority hand is not beind this conspiracy. MPs and MLAs snoring, sleeping, catnaping, during debate in assembly is very common. But these three BJP ministers chose a most unusual way to escape what they regarded as an arid discussion on the drought situation in the State. The fundamentalists of Karnataka assaulted women in pubs, ran campaigns against Valentine's day, launched investigations into the so called love -Jihads, all to protect Hindu culture from immoral foreign influences. The hypocrisy of the BJP and its aggressive supporters like Sangh parivar, who, through their moral policing and self styled vigilantism, regarded nothing but a blunder.

@Dinesh Pooari. This is your BJP which keeps their voters in the DARK only to win elections.

Laxman Savadi, who resigned as Karnataka cooperation minister on Wednesday, gave orders to cut off electricity to his constituency Athani on Tuesday, so that the people of the town could not see the news of his viewing pornographic clips in the assembly. He also issued orders to block entry of newspapers into the town.

The orders were issued even as TV channels were telecasting news of his actions embarrassing the government. After power was restored late at night, the cable feed was withdrawn by the local operator.

On Wednesday, no newspapers of any language could reach Athani as most bundles were booked and purchased en route.

Savadi's supporters removed all cutouts of the minister across Athani town on Tuesday night itself because they felt people would disfigure them.

Beautiful analysis by Mr.Gabriel Vaz. He has presented the facts n figures perfectly. I am sad that this happened during Sadananda Gowdas regime. But no I will blame the CM even for the Rave Party, u cannot keep a watch on everybody. DVS was trying his best to better BJP image which was spoilt by ex CM BSY. In this direction he was able have love n affection of minorities despite their grievances. But he too has his own weakness as he is bound to listen to RSS Safrons, as they have hold on BJP at state n national level. RSS plan to hoist Pak flag at Bijapur to start communal clash was spoilt by timely intervention police.

DVS could not action on RSS n Dr. Kalkudka Prabhakar Bhat despite his provocative speech bcz RSS was able to keep Yeddy at bay. He must wear Khaki Pant to please RSS though his heart doesnot accept theirs mentality. So far so good God knows else awaits Karnataka public for the next one more year. During Yeddys regime opposition herassed him. But here Yeddy himself create problems for his own nominee. 6 months passed n Yeddy want his chair back. His stay at Parappana Agrahara had taught him how hard it to live without power. Once Swamijis saved him and he pushed his sons n daughter out of his residence. But later forgot is promises to Karnataka public and indulged in more corruption as he wanted to be richer than Reddys. But both landed in jail as HDK was policing the state by hook n crook.

But he softened his stand for DVS as he his frm same cast. I am happy that High command of BJP took sturn action. But the damage is done, it will loose atleast 25 seats in UP as whole world came to know about this porn clip at infamous Karnataka Assembly. Now the public is aware that BJP is "Muh me Ram Ram n bagal me choori sorry mobile me Kamasuthra". We knowbin advance the report of 6 member committee. It will be like justice Somashekar report on church attacks.

Well done ministers, you stuck to your jobs: Co-operation(?), Welfare (?) of women, and Ports & fish(ing)eries. Nobody is a saint, however your acts are disgusting- as people's representatives. Now lets us not politicize this- such devils are there in all parties however it's party time for the opposition.

BJP will not care and never cared because they have Hinduthva card! Fine let them have the card!! Do good things also!! But there is no exception for assembly session taking light and watching porn!! We should elect leaders who can sea clips of bad roads and peoples desperate needs!! Certainly not Palemars!!

BJP was supposed to win 150 seats in the next election. It may lose 2 or 3 seats because of this incident. So definitely they will win 147-148 seats. Congress people will be thrown out of scene...watch out...

Everyone knows development works done by BJP. All educated people understand who has done more sex scandals.

Out of 6 crore Kannadigas, 4 crores will vote for BJP, these 4 crores knows the difference between development works in last 60 years and last 3.5 years..

Congress is day dreaming that because of 1 or 2 such incidents, they will win next election.. Poor fellows..

Like Poonam Pandey, who had been offering to strip for Indian Cricket team at different times, said in her blog, that the ``THREE BJP MINISTERS ARE BUSY IN THEIR `ERECTIONS' AND NOT `ELECTIONS,' it is perhaps time for the voters to show these hoodlums their place in the next assembly polls in Karnataka LET THEM ALL TAKE REST AND DO WHATEVER THEY WANT AT HOME! Yeddy and even DVS included.
