Dubai, Sep 11: The Moodbidri Varado Catholic community came together in a vibrant celebration of Monti Fest, organized by Udenthichim Neketram, on September 7 at the Iranian Club, Oud Metha, Dubai. Over 450 attendees from 14 parishes of Moodbidri Varado participated in this joyous occasion, marked by deep devotion, cultural richness, and a strong sense of unity.
The event began with a reverent prayer dance, setting a spiritual tone for the day. This was followed by the traditional welcome with ‘Panpod-Udak’, ceremoniously performed by Rudolf and Lanitha Sanctis. For the first time, a rearranged version of the Udenthichim Neketram theme song was performed as 14 parish representatives placed stars on the group logo, symbolizing unity and the coming together of one family. The music was rearranged by Franklin Rodrigues from Siddakatte.

































































A charming floral procession of children encircling the beautifully adorned statue of Monti Saibin (Infant Mary) added a heartfelt touch to the celebration. Fr Victor Fernandes OFM Cap, spiritual director of St Mary’s Mangalorean Community (SMMC), Dubai, led the community in prayer, creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere filled with traditional hymns. Children joyfully offered flowers to Infant Mary, embodying the spirit of thanksgiving and devotion.
A brief stage programme followed, graced by dignitaries including: Fr Victor Fernandes OFM Cap, assistant parish priest, St Mary’s Church, Dubai, Fr Denis Veigas, St Fidelis Friary, Monte Mariano, Farangipete Joseph Mathais, main coordinator, SMMC Dubai, Rocky Noronha and Sujith Fernandes, main sponsors of the event
Guests and attendees were then served the traditional ‘Novem Jevann’, a vegetarian meal symbolizing gratitude for the harvest.
The highlight of the afternoon was a cultural extravaganza showcasing the extraordinary talents of Udenthichim Neketram’s members adults and children alike through music, dance, skits, and games. The renowned ‘Konkani Comedy Prince’ Pradeep Barboza and team had the audience in peals of laughter with their rib-tickling skits, creating unforgettable moments. The celebration concluded on a high note with an energetic Baila dance, led by Band ‘Melody’ and DJ Norman bringing everyone to the dance floor in a joyful expression of unity and festivity.
The entire event was professionally compered by Joshve D’Souza and Venicia Rodrigues, whose humor, lively interactions, and engaging spot games kept the audience entertained throughout. Anitha Fernandes delivered the vote of thanks, expressing heartfelt gratitude to all sponsors, volunteers, and participants who made the day a grand success.
Monti Fest 2025, under the banner of Udenthichim Neketram, stood as a remarkable testament to faith, tradition, and community spirit, bringing together Moodbidri Varado Catholics in a celebration that will be cherished for years to come.
