Jerusalem, Sep 9: Israel on Monday strongly condemned the Jerusalem shooting incident, terming it a “horrific terror attack” on its capital city.
According to Israeli police and emergency rescue services, two Palestinian gunmen opened fire at a crowded bus stop in north Jerusalem, killing six people and leaving 12 others injured. The attack, carried out at the busy Ramot Junction, sparked fresh outrage across Israel.

Speaking to PTI Videos during his visit to India, Yali Rothenberg, Accountant General at Israel’s Ministry of Finance, expressed personal grief. “I know the bus stop, and actually know the mother of one of my employees who was killed in that attack. This is an unfortunate reminder for all of us of the inhumane acts carried out by extremists. Israel and India stand together in fighting such terror,” he said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel also issued a strong statement on social media platform X. “This is the evil Israel faces. Two terrorists opened fire on a bus in Jerusalem — targeting passengers, bystanders, anyone in reach. Five murdered. Over a dozen wounded. The war Israel fights is for all who stand against terror,” the ministry posted.
Later, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar released a video statement, saying, “This morning, there was a horrific terror attack in our capital Jerusalem. Two Palestinian terrorists murdered Jews at the Ramot Junction. So far, six Israelis have been killed. We are in a war against radical Islamist terrorism. Every country must now make a clear choice: Are they on Israel’s side, or on the side of the jihadists?”
The incident comes as Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich leads a high-level delegation to India, accompanied by Rothenberg.
