Mangaluru, Sep 6: The students and parents of Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru, joyfully celebrated Teachers’ Day on September 4 in the school auditorium, expressing love and gratitude to their mentors.

The school cabinet conducted a meaningful programme themed Cultura Animi - “cultivation of the soul”, which beautifully reflected the true essence of education. The event began with the cabinet members escorting the teachers to the venue with deep respect and warmth.

A graceful welcome dance set the tone, followed by the dignitaries lighting the lamp and honouring the portrait of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, reaffirming his belief that teachers are the foundation of society. A soulful prayer service then depicted the seven elements of life, symbolically connecting them to the stages of a teacher’s journey.

The highlight of the morning was a skit titled “Tea with Thimanna”, humorously contrasting the qualities of teachers of the past with those of the present. With a blend of values, wit, and light-heartedness, the skit filled the auditorium with laughter and appreciation. Adding to the nostalgia, students performed a lively medley of 1990s Bollywood songs, evoking fond memories among the teachers.

The celebration continued with fun-filled games conducted by the cabinet members for the management, teaching staff, admin staff, and ancillary staff. A heartfelt video tribute by the alumni of MCCS followed, expressing gratitude for their teachers’ dedication and guidance during their school years.

The morning drew to a cheerful close with an energetic dance performance and a special gift from the cabinet members to the teachers as a token of appreciation.

The principal, Sr Melissa, extended her deep gratitude to the cabinet members for organising such a creative and meaningful programme for their mentors.

The event was compered by Angel Fernandes and Kevin Kushalappa, while Karen Lobo proposed the vote of thanks.

The festivities continued at 12 pm with a special programme by the Parent-Teacher Executive Committee. The programme opened with a prayer, followed by a warm welcome from PTA vice president Ananthesh Prabhu. Teachers were then engaged in a lively group game that radiated joy and enthusiasm.

The PTEC members added colour to the occasion with a melodious group song and a vibrant dance performance. A touching video presentation featuring photographs of both teaching and non-teaching staff served as a moving tribute of gratitude and affection. To sustain the festive mood, spot and group games were also organized, bringing cheer and laughter. Tokens of love and gratitude were then presented by the PTEC members to the teachers, making the celebration truly memorable.

Principal Sr Melissa thanked the PTEC members for their love, support, and thoughtful efforts, highlighting the importance of strengthening the parent-teacher partnership. The programme was compered by Preema D’costa, with William Rebello delivering the vote of thanks.

The day concluded with a sumptuous meal, during which parents continued to entertain the teachers with lively medleys. The shared meal not only delighted everyone, but also strengthened the bonds of friendship and collaboration between the parents and the staff, bringing the Teachers’ Day celebration 2025 to a joyous and memorable close.
