Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Sept 7: In a deeply disturbing case, a police constable—entrusted with the duty of protecting citizens—has been arrested following rape allegations levelled against him by a woman advocate in Bengaluru.

The accused, Siddegowda, is a constable with the Special Action Force (SAF) in Mangaluru. According to police sources, he was arrested by Basaveshwaranagar police in Bengaluru based on a complaint filed by the woman.

Allegations of deception and sexual assault

The complainant, who is reportedly a practising lawyer, has alleged that the constable established a sexual relationship with her under the false promise of marriage. She claims that he later refused to marry her, prompting her to approach the police and lodge a formal complaint.

Arrest and legal proceedings

Following the FIR, Siddegowda was taken into custody and produced before a local court. The court has since remanded him to judicial custody.

The case has triggered concern, as it involves a serving law enforcement officer allegedly violating the very law he is sworn to uphold.

Investigation ongoing

An official from the Basaveshwaranagar police confirmed that a rape case has been registered based on the woman’s complaint. Further investigation is underway.

Police have yet to release additional details, and no statement has been issued by the accused or his legal counsel at the time of reporting.
