Bantwal: Three arrested over Aug 14 cow slaughter incident in Thumbe village

Bantwal, Sept 5: Bantwal Rural police have arrested three accused in connection with a cow slaughter case that took place on August 14 in Thumbe village.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Irshad (34) from Ullal Chembugudde, Mohammad Mansoor (48) from Kudroli, and Abdul Azeem (18) from Kannur, Mangaluru.

The accused were involved in the theft of cattle near Thumbe, and the remains of the animals were discovered the following day near Sadri. A case has been registered at the Bantwal Rural police station under FIR No. 125/2025, Sections 303(2), BNS, Sections 4 and 12 of the Karnataka Prevention of Cow Slaughter and Preservation Act-2020, and Section 11(d) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

The police are actively investigating the case.

During interrogation, it was revealed that the same accused were also involved in another cow slaughter case registered at the Uppinangadi police station on September 4.

The investigation into that case is ongoing, police said.

    Govt should bring in a policy to buy the cattle from farmers. Govt can then setup a sanctuary were they can take these cattle. For maintenance of these sanctuaries, govt could put additional tax on people like Cow cess. Doing this will help farmers who are having in a moral delimma on what to do with their make cattle and unproductive cows.
