"How dare you?" Ajit Pawar in heated exchange with woman IPS officer over excavation

Mumbai, Sep 5: A video showing Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a heated conversation with a woman IPS officer over action against illegal soil excavation in Solapur has gone viral on social media.

The incident occurred on August 31, when Sub-Divisional Police Officer Anjana Krishna reached Kurdu village to act on complaints of illegal ‘murrum’ soil excavation for road construction.

In the video, Pawar is purportedly heard speaking on the phone of an NCP worker, saying, “Suno, mai deputy chief minister bol raha hu aur aapko aadesh deta hu ki vo rokwao (Listen, I am the deputy chief minister and I order you to stop it).”

When the officer, who recently joined duty in Maharashtra, asked him to call her directly, Pawar warned, “Mai tere upar action lunga (I will take action against you).” He later told her, “Itna aapko daring hua hai kya (How dare you).”

Pawar is also seen making a video call to her, purportedly asking her to halt the action.

Reacting to the controversy, NCP MP Sunil Tatkare claimed the clip was deliberately leaked, adding that Ajit Pawar may have “chided the officer only to pacify party workers” and did not intend to stop legal proceedings.
