Moodbidri, Sep 4: A constable from Moodbidri police station has been arrested by the same station police for repeatedly calling a complainant woman and speaking to her in an obscene manner.

The arrested constable Shantappa (28) has been granted bail by the court. Even before his arrest, the police commissioner had suspended him.

The woman had visited the station on August 25 to file a complaint against her husband regarding domestic harassment. At that time, Shantappa, who was on duty, noted down her mobile number. Later, the inspector called the couple to the station, conducted an inquiry, and sent them back.

According to police sources, after this, Shantappa allegedly called the woman three times and spoke to her in an obscene manner. The woman then lodged a complaint against him, producing call records as evidence.

Shantappa, a native of Kushtagi taluk in Koppal district, had joined the police force as a constable in 2022.

Its good so that he is arrested. What a situation? The one who has to defend citizens from evil is self a offender?Better he should be thrown out with immediate effect. Not only suspend .Even his social events like pension etc should also be cut.Only then they will learn to work as normal and with heart and passion.
