Mangaluru, Sep 3: The Bajpe police have arrested eight persons, including a minor boy, in connection with the rape of a minor student and circulation of the video on social media.

The arrested are Karthik, Rakesh Saldanha, Jeevan, Sandeep, Rakshith, Shravan and Suresh. The minor has been sent to a juvenile home.

The incident, which took place two months ago, came to light recently. Police said Karthik came in contact with a first PUC student on Instagram, which turned into a romantic relationship. In June, he allegedly lured the girl to a forest near Adyar Falls and raped her.

Rakesh Saldanha, a friend who was present at the spot, also raped the victim. Karthik recorded the act on his mobile phone, and the video was later circulated among his friends and went viral.

Following this, the victim lodged a complaint at Bajpe police station on August 16. Police registered a case under the POCSO Act and arrested the accused.

"Ban Instagram as it might be the root cause..." Ban, blame and curse that will not bring any awareness or improve the situation or behavior of Young children. they should be guided and advised of the perils of mixing with boys in the pretext of mutual friend and advancing in wrong direction. Importantly on the part of teen aged girls. It's a craze among teens to have BF/GF consequence of which , only time/opportunity will prove, by that time worse had already taken place.

All rapists must be hanged for such a henious crime. These must be questioned before their mothers and sistersto understand the value of womanhood. Girls must at least open their eyes now and concentrate on their academics and future and not run behind boys. There is time after certain age to settle in life with a life patner. why to start relationship in school and college? I think sex education in schools and classes on religion and moral science as well as Psychotherapies are not helping these boys. Earlier we didnt have all that but our parents, siblings and teachers were our guides. Now a days children shouldnt be punsihed but are given everything yet moral values are decreasing. Disgusting just disgusting to read often on sexual crimes ..

Taking a neutral stance on the news; why did the XIth std. girl go with an unknown person to a lonely spot; the victim might have had an intimate contact with the first accused by mutual consent oblivious of the fact that the act was being filmed for blackmail, and got trapped in the devil's net! 😞

Disgusting to know that a PUC student is forcefully raped by eight boys and video recorded the act. Too shameful and horrible incident. Teen agers are going astray. going out of control. Now blame each other including parents. too late, worse is already done. How such deeds affect girls future and trauma to face the society.
