Mangaluru, Sep 2: A quarterly Karnataka Development Programme (KDP) meeting for Mangaluru taluk was held on Tuesday, September 2 at the Taluk Panchayat auditorium under the chairmanship of Mangaluru City North MLA Dr Bharath Shetty Y.
Taluk Panchayat executive officer Mahesh Holl, Mangaluru tahsildar Ramesh Babu, officials from various departments, gram panchayat officers, and development officers were present.






The meeting reviewed progress and issues across multiple departments:
Health: Effective prevention and control of malaria and dengue, with emphasis on making Mangaluru malaria- and dengue-free.
Ayush: Patient statistics from departmental hospitals and updates on building projects.
Horticulture: Awareness on crop insurance, compensation for crop loss, promotion of beekeeping, oilseed, and palm cultivation.
Agriculture: Seed distribution, paddy cultivation, subsidised farm equipment, crop insurance, and promotion of organic farming.
Backward Classes Welfare: Hostel shortages, timely disbursal of grants to orphanages, reducing reliance on rented hostels, and plans to build hostels on government land.
SC Colonies Development: Concern raised over lack of funds sanctioned for Mangaluru City North constituency.
Animal Husbandry: Progress of vaccination drives, rabies control, tackling stray dog menace, and awareness camps for new dairy farmers.
Forestry: Conservation efforts for sea turtles, including protection of eggs and safe release of hatchlings into the sea.
Women and Child Welfare: Status of vacant posts, Anganwadi enrolment and attendance, housing Anganwadis in government-owned buildings, and activities of the district child protection unit.
Education: Timely distribution of textbooks, enrolment in government schools, and special attention to academically weak students.
Akshara Dasoha: Quality and quantity of milk, midday meals, eggs, and bananas distributed to students.
Labour: Health check-up services for construction workers at worksites through mobile units.
KMF: Noted increase in milk collection this year and measures taken to achieve it.
Drinking Water and Sanitation: Ensuring uninterrupted household supply under the Jal Jeevan Mission by addressing technical glitches through better coordination.
Mescom: Priority to timely payment of electricity dues by panchayats to avoid interest and arrears.
The MLA directed officials to ensure coordination across departments and resolve issues on priority for effective implementation of development programmes.
