Mangaluru, Sep 1: An auto-rickshaw driver sustained injuries after being attacked by an unidentified person near Bendorewell in the city on Sunday night.
The driver, identified as Basheer, had stopped his vehicle to relieve himself when the unknown person approached and questioned him in Beary language, asking, “Will you inform the police?” In response, the driver slapped the man, leading to a scuffle between the two. During the altercation, Basheer suffered an injury to his stomach.
In retaliation, the driver also hit back at the attacker, following which the unidentified man fled the scene.
The injured auto driver was admitted to a hospital, while Kadri police have recorded his statement and registered a case.
