Udupi: Inter-district theft accused absconding for 8 years arrested at Bengaluru airport

Udupi, Aug 31: An inter-district accused, who had been absconding for the past eight years without appearing before the court in multiple theft cases and was residing abroad, has been arrested.

The accused, identified as Iqbal Ahmad Ansari from Mysuru district, was taken into custody on August 29 when he arrived at Bengaluru International Airport from Dubai. Immigration officials detained him and handed him over to the police.

According to police sources, several theft and related cases have been registered against Ansari in Shirva, Manipal, and Thirthahalli police station limits. The cases are still pending trial in court.

The accused was brought to Padubidri police station and produced before the Udupi court.
