India to export EVs to 100 nations, says PM Modi

New Delhi, Aug 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced that India will soon begin exporting electric vehicles (EVs) to 100 countries, marking a major milestone for the nation’s automobile sector.

“I want to tell you about another success of India. India is now going to export electric vehicles to 100 countries of the world. A very big program related to this is also being held on August 26,” Modi said at an event.

Highlighting India’s rapid growth in the automobile industry, the PM said exports, which stood at around Rs 50,000 crore annually in 2014, have now reached Rs 1.2 lac cr.

Calling India the world’s fastest-growing major economy, Modi said the country is on track to become the third-largest economy soon, and a developed nation by 2047. “Experts are saying India’s contribution to world growth will be nearly 20% in the coming years,” he added.

The Prime Minister further revealed that Made-in-India semiconductors will enter markets soon. He also assured that the next-generation GST reforms, simplifying tax laws and bringing down prices, will be completed before Diwali.

Referring to India’s achievements in technology, Modi said the country has developed its entire 5G stack indigenously and is now moving rapidly towards 6G technology. He also declared that India will establish its own space station in the coming years, with several space missions already in the pipeline.
