Kundapur, Aug 21: In a major breakthrough, the Gangolli police apprehended an accused who had been absconding for nearly 23 years in connection with a dowry harassment case.

The case was registered under IPC Sections 498A, 504, 506(2), and Sections 3, 4, and 6 of the Dowry Prohibition Act against the accused, Naseer Khan (52), a native of Sagar taluk, Shivamogga district.

Despite repeated summons, the accused failed to appear before the court for more than two decades and had gone into hiding. Acting on reliable information, a police team consisting of head constable Krishna, PC Prasanna, and PC Sandeep Kurani arrested Naseer Khan on August 20, at Anandapur in Sagar taluk.

He was subsequently produced before the Kundapur court for further legal proceedings.
