Muscat, Aug 20: In a move that will impact expatriates and tourists travelling between Oman and Kerala, IndiGo has temporarily suspended its direct Muscat–Kannur flight, citing low seasonal demand.
The airline confirmed that the suspension follows a review of booking patterns, which revealed a steep decline during the traditional low travel season.
Affected passengers have been contacted directly by IndiGo and offered several alternatives, including rebooking on other IndiGo flights, rerouting via network points, or availing a full refund for the cancelled service.
IndiGo clarified that the suspension is only temporary, and services may be resumed once demand shows signs of recovery.
The airline, India’s largest carrier by fleet size and passenger numbers, stressed that route adjustments based on demand fluctuations are standard practice across the aviation industry, especially for international routes that witness sharp seasonal variations.
IndiGo also assured travellers that it remains committed to providing reliable and punctual services, while redeploying aircraft and crew to ensure optimal efficiency during the period of reduced traffic.
