Gaza, Aug 17: The United States has suspended visitor visas for Palestinians from Gaza following a campaign by far-right activist Laura Loomer, who accused the State Department of allowing “pro-HAMAS” individuals into the country for medical aid.
The State Department, led by Secretary Marco Rubio, announced on X that all medical-humanitarian visas for Gazans are “on hold pending a full review.” The decision came a day after Loomer launched a social media tirade, targeting the charity HEAL Palestine which had helped evacuate 11 wounded children and their families to the US for treatment.

The move sparked criticism from aid groups. The Palestine Children’s Relief Fund called the suspension “dangerous and inhumane,” stressing that thousands of Palestinian children have been brought to the US for life-saving care over the last three decades.
Loomer, who has no official role but is seen as influential within Trump’s circle, claimed credit for the reversal. Several Republican leaders, including Congressman Randy Fine, publicly praised her intervention.
