Navi Mumbai, Aug 17: Police have registered a case against a real estate company director and two others for allegedly cheating a man of Rs 1.47 crore by promising six flats over a decade ago.

The 57-year-old transport firm owner from CBD Belapur paid the amount between June 2011 and January 2016, after being assured of an Agreement for Sale and possession of the flats. However, no flats were delivered and the money was not refunded, police said.

A case under cheating provisions has been filed, and officials warn the public to verify property documents carefully before making payments.
