Expert PU College to host ‘Xcelerate 2025’ inter-school science fest on Oct 18

Mangaluru, Aug 14: Expert Pre-University College, Kodialbail, under the aegis of the Expert Group of Institutions, will host ‘Xcelerate 2025’, an inter-school science extravaganza designed to ignite the scientific curiosity and creativity among high school students. The event will take place on October 18, and is open to students from classes 8th, 9th, and 10th across Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.

Xcelerate 2025 is a pioneering initiative aimed at fostering interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through engaging competitions and hands-on experiences. The event promises to be a launchpad for students to explore the wonders of science, gain practical skills, and engage in meaningful dialogue with educators and peers. The programme includes four exciting categories:

  • X-Quizit (Science quiz) – A science and mathematics quiz to challenge students’ knowledge and analytical thinking.
  • X-IgnAIte (AI workshop) – An AI workshop where students will learn about AI tools and prompt engineering, culminating in a web application development contest.
  • X-Zibit (Model making) – A science model-making competition judged on innovation, scientific accuracy, presentation, and real-world relevance.
  • X-Sight (Interactive demos) – Interactive demos and Q&A sessions with Expert faculty, offering students a chance to explore science through direct engagement.

Each school may nominate 8 students, forming 4 teams of 2 students each, with one team participating in each category. All participants will receive certificates, and winners will be awarded first and second prizes in each category. The school with the highest cumulative score will be honoured with the overall championship trophy.

Speaking at the press conference, Prof Narendra L Nayak, chairman of Expert Group of Institutions, expressed pride in the institution’s consistent academic and extracurricular achievements. He was joined by Dr Ushaprabha N Nayak, vice chairperson; Ankush N Nayak, director of IT; Prof Ramachandra Bhat, principal; and B Rakshitha Prabhu, assistant programme director and lecturer in chemistry.

Xcelerate 2025 is more than a competition—it’ is a celebration of curiosity, innovation, and the spirit of scientific discovery.
