Srinivas Institute of Technology celebrates National Anti-Ragging Day

Mangaluru, Aug 13: The anti-ragging cell of Srinivas Institute of Technology (SIT), Valachil organized National Anti-Ragging Day on August 12 with the theme ‘Say no to ragging, yes to unity’ at the institute’s Seminar Hall. The programme aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of ragging and to foster a sense of unity and respect among students.

The programme was arranged as per the direction and guidance by Dr Shrinivasa Mayya D, principal of SIT.

The event featured a series of special talks by distinguished guests from the law enforcement and legal community. Ravalendra, PSI, Mangaluru rural police station, Pradeep, police staff, Mangalure rural police station, and Ramesh, beat police, Vamanjoor police station, addressed the gathering on the legal implications of ragging and the importance of maintaining discipline on campus.

Adding to the expert panel, Prof Nandakishore Polya, advocate at Dhyeya Law Associates, Puttur, and faculty of Law, SIT, spoke on the legal framework against ragging and the role of students in ensuring a safe academic environment.

The programme was coordinated by Dr Anant Kumar Kulkarni, SWO & co-ordinator of Anti-ragging Committee. The session concluded with a strong message reinforcing that ragging is a punishable offense and that SIT is committed to being a ragging-free campus.

The event witnessed active participation from faculty members and students, reflecting the institution’s commitment to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive educational environment.
