Pune, Aug 9: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday emphasized that meticulous planning, clear timelines, transparency, and inter-departmental coordination are essential for the swift execution of infrastructure projects. Speaking at the inauguration of an Infrastructure Development Project Training Workshop, he stated that the timely completion of these projects is crucial for the state to achieve its ambitious goal of a one-trillion-dollar economy.

"The state economy is progressing towards the one-trillion-dollar mark. For this journey to move faster, infrastructure development projects are vital," said Fadnavis. He highlighted that Maharashtra has extensive experience in completing large-scale engineering projects and stressed the need for advanced planning to ensure quality and utility. The Chief Minister also pointed out that tools like Gati Shakti and Geo Data, along with proper field inspections and information sharing between departments, are key to accelerating project timelines.

Fadnavis also outlined several best practices for project execution, including:

• Selecting capable developers and including comprehensive provisions in project contracts to protect the state's interests.
• Ensuring high-quality work through regular supervision as projects near completion.
• Timely land acquisition and prompt compensation to prevent cost escalation and project delays.

He added that the state government is actively working to remove obstacles and has set up a "War Room" to monitor and fast-track critical projects.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar echoed these sentiments, calling infrastructure projects the "backbone of Maharashtra’s economic and social development." He stated that a "Developed Maharashtra" is a movement, with infrastructure development at its core. Pawar noted that the workshop was organized to address issues hindering progress and to foster a new mindset and skills among officials.

Pravin Singh Pardeshi, CEO of MITRA, urged for the timely use of available funding, while Chief Secretary Rajesh Kumar called for a change in perspective and a study of why projects are delayed. He stressed that achieving the "Developed Maharashtra 2047 Vision" requires an innovative approach to infrastructure. Principal Secretary Ashwini Bhide concluded that the workshop's goal is to ensure the dynamic implementation of projects and facilitate idea exchange for rapid completion.
