Doha, Aug 3: In a bold stride towards sustainable transportation, Qatar has crossed a key milestone by installing over 300 fast electric vehicle (EV) chargers across the country. The announcement was made on August 1 by Kahramaa, the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation, during a public awareness event held at Al Thumama's Kahramaa Awareness Park.
Engineers and electric vehicle users participated in the event, evaluating charger performance and sharing feedback for further expansion. The newly integrated mobile app now allows users to monitor charging sessions in real-time, receive alerts, and report any malfunctions—enhancing transparency and user convenience.

Kahramaa officials confirmed that these fast chargers—classified as Level 3 DC chargers—can power most electric vehicles up to 80% in under 30 minutes. Plans are underway to extend installations across residential areas, shopping complexes, and public parking hubs, with the aim of making EV adoption easier and accessible for all.
The rollout directly supports Qatar National Vision 2030, which focuses on reducing carbon emissions and promoting environmentally conscious urban development. With limited apartment-based charging availability, these fast public chargers offer a practical solution to increasing demand.
Qatar’s charging stations are also equipped with smart features, enabling energy-efficient operations and allowing users to schedule sessions during low-tariff hours. The country is also exploring advanced capabilities such as Plug & Charge technology, which facilitates automatic billing and secure user authentication.
As EV ownership continues to rise, Qatar’s rapid infrastructure push signals a serious commitment to cleaner mobility. With robust planning, technology-backed engagement, and nationwide coverage, the country is steering decisively towards an electrified future.
