Kartik Aaryan denies involvement in US event after FWICE warning

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai

Mumbai, Aug 3: Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan has distanced himself from a US-based Independence Day event after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) raised objections over its alleged Pakistani connection.

In a statement issued by the actor’s team, it was clarified that Kartik has no association with the event. "Kartik Aaryan is not associated with this event in any capacity. He has never made an official announcement about participating in this event. We have contacted the organisers and requested to remove all promotional materials featuring his name and image," the statement read.

FWICE had earlier claimed that Kartik was scheduled to attend “Azadi Utsav – The Indian Independence Day,” set to be held in Houston on August 15. The federation alleged the event was being hosted by Aga’s Restaurant and Catering, owned by Pakistani-origin businessman Shaukat Maredia.

The federation reminded the industry of its directive post the Pulwama terror attack, advising against collaborations with Pakistani individuals or organisations. "We believe you may not have been fully aware of the organisers' background. If so, we urge you to withdraw. If you were aware, it becomes a matter of greater concern," FWICE said in its notice.

On the professional front, Kartik Aaryan is currently working on Anurag Basu’s untitled romantic film and Karan Johar's production Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri.
