Thane, Jul 30: In a shocking breach of trust, three women domestic helps have been booked for allegedly stealing gold ornaments, biscuits, and coins valued at a whopping Rs 85.5 lac from the home of a 64-year-old man in Nerul, Navi Mumbai.

According to police officials, the theft reportedly occurred over a span of two months — between April and June 2025, while the trio were employed at the victim’s residence.

Taking advantage of their regular access and trusted positions, the women are alleged to have stolen nearly 900 grams of gold, meticulously lifting items without arousing suspicion. “They executed the theft while performing daily chores and managed to remain unnoticed throughout the period,” a senior Nerul Police Station official stated.

Out of the three accused, two are residents of Nerul, while the third hails from the railway servants’ quarters in Mumbai.

Based on the complaint filed by the victim, a case has been registered under Section 306 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita — which deals with theft committed by a servant or clerk from their employer. Police have begun a detailed investigation into the matter.

Authorities are now working to track down the accused and recover the stolen gold.
