Mangaluru, Jul 16: Carmel School CBSE, Kotekar celebrated the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel on July 16, with deep spiritual fervor and vibrant cultural expression. The day honored Mother Mary, the patroness of the Apostolic Carmel Congregation, and reflected the school’s deep-rooted Carmelite values.
The celebration began with a solemn Holy Mass. Fr Santhosh was the main celebrant. The mass brought together the staff and students in prayerful unity, as they sought the intercession of the Queen of Carmel for guidance and blessings.

A cultural programme followed in the auditorium, graced by esteemed dignitaries, Sr Julie Ann AC, administrator and chief gues; Sr Pramila AC, principal; Sr Anitha AC, vice principal; Geetha Hegde, PTA vice president and members of the PTA executive committee.
The event opened with a spirit-filled prayer service based on six Marian virtues — purity, charity, patience, humility, obedience, and faith — powerfully portrayed by the students. A graceful welcome dance added colour and vibrancy, setting a joyous tone for the celebration. Laksh, the student compère, delivered the official welcome address, extending warm greetings to all present.
A thought-provoking mime, “Peace with Creation”, highlighted the divine presence in nature and the urgent call to environmental stewardship. The significance of the feast was then beautifully narrated, tracing the origins of Mount Carmel, its connection to the Prophet Elijah, the early Carmelite hermits, and the vision of St Simon Stock, which began the devotion to the Brown Scapular.
Students then staged an inspiring skit on the life and virtues of Mother Mary, followed by a devotional dance that expressed reverence through elegant movement and heartfelt emotion.
The chief guest, Sr Julie Ann AC, addressed the gathering with warmth and wisdom. She encouraged students to greet one another with joy and unity and reminded them that Our Lady of Mount Carmel is not only the Patroness but also a loving Heavenly Mother who guides and protects. She emphasized three key Carmelite values: A life of prayer, A life of simplicity and A life of humility.
Her words were a gentle yet powerful reminder to live as true Carmelites — with faith, compassion, and grace.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Jnana, expressing sincere appreciation to all who contributed to the success of the day. The programme was gracefully compered by Laanvi and Manyatha, whose confident and fluent anchoring added rhythm and flow to the celebration.
To mark this joyous occasion, a festive lunch was served to all students, staff, and PTA members, fostering a sense of community and togetherness.
The feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel 2025 was a harmonious blend of prayer, performance, and purpose — a true celebration of Carmelite identity, values, and devotion.
