Doha, Jul 16: Karnataka Sangha Qatar (KSQ), in collaboration with American hospital, organized a blood donation drive and free medical check-up as part of its ongoing commitment to social responsibility. The event also marked KSQ’s Silver jubilee celebrations, during which members from the medical field were honored for their selfless and dedicated service.
The event was inaugurated in the presence of ICC vice president Shantanu Deshpande and ICC advisory panel chairman Babu Rajan, who attended as chief guest and guest of honor, respectively.
The formal programme began with an opening address by KSQ general secretary Kumar Swamy, who also hosted the proceedings. KSQ president Ravi Shetty welcomed the gathering with a thought-provoking Sanskrit shloka, reminding everyone: “A mother’s tears cannot save her child’s life, but your blood can.”




















Dr Rohini Dore, obstetrician & gynecologist from HMC Al Wakra Hospital, delivered an informative talk on the importance of blood donation, explaining how one donation can save multiple lives. She was presented with a “Memento of Gratitude” by the president in appreciation of her contribution.
Chairman of American Hospital, Mohammed Iqbal was also felicitated for his ongoing support to both KSQ and the wider community. American Hospital general manager Iqbal Abdulla and Uday Shetty from Karnataka toastmasters spoke on the life-saving impact of blood donation and praised KSQ for its partnership and dedication. Iqbal also highlighted the vision and initiatives of American Hospital in making quality healthcare affordable and accessible for everyone.
Chief guest Shantanu Deshpande applauded KSQ’s continuous contributions to community welfare and expressed his happiness at being part of this noble cause. Joint secretary LG Patil delivered an eloquent vote of thanks.
Quoting “Vaidyo Narayano Hari, Aushadam Jahnavitoyam”, as part of the silver jubilee celebrations, 44 doctors and 26 nurses were honored with commemorative silver jubilee shawls and mementos. Few missed invitees will be honored later.
The event was graced by several prominent community members and leaders, including ICC MC members Sandeep Reddy & Rakesh Wagh, ICBF advisory panel member Sadeesh Vilavil, KSQ advisory committee members V S Mannangi, H K Madhu, Dr Sanjay Kudari, KMCA president Saquib Raza Khan, Tulukoota vice president Vijay Rai, Bunts Qatar president Naveen Shetty Iruvail, Billawas Qatar president Aparna Sharath. Representatives from MCC, SKMWA, MCA, and other community leaders including Ramachandra Shetty, Aloysius D’Souza, Asmath Ali, Riana Pinto, along with senior KSQ members and past management committee members.
The collaboration between KSQ, American Hospital, and Karnataka Toastmasters led to a record number of registrations, with nearly 150 members of the expatriate community donating blood. All donors received appreciation certificates. The event’s success was made possible thanks to the teamwork of MC members, dedicated volunteers such as Shridhar Nayak, Venu Reddy, ATS team, and the support of Hamad Medical Corporation.
